Access Code - Lead Instructor (iOS)
C4Q is looking for an extremely passionate and extraordinarily talented mobile development technical expert to be our Access Code - Lead iOS Instructor to lead curriculum development and adult tech education for non-traditional audiences. This person will be a pioneer educator, committed to our goal of growing an inclusive tech community through education and excited to build upon the success of our Access Code pilot. Access Code aims to strengthen, diversify, and expand the NYC tech workforce by providing high-quality tech courses to adults who traditionally lack access. In the upcoming cycle, we are expanding the program to serve those with less educational attainment and also to the 65% of New Yorkers who don't have a college degree and earn less than $32,000 a year. This person should have a no fail attitude and work together with the C4Q team to do whatever it takes to provide the appropriate instruction, mentorship, and support to ensure student success.
We are the only non-profit nationwide training software developers. We are confident there are extraordinarily talented adults from nontraditional audiences who would excel in tech if given the opportunity and the skills. As Queens becomes a center for New York City tech, we want to invest in building the skills of individuals from our community and expand the pipeline of technical talent.

Build creative mobile applications with students & the C4Q team
Creatively apply your skills to solve interesting problems as we grow our organization
Change the lives of students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds
Develop a comprehensive iOS/Objective-C curriculum that matches the needs of participants from a wide-range of educational and socio-economic backgrounds
Train adults who have no previous background in technology - with a variety of educational attainment from public universities to community college to no degree at all - and transform them into mobile developers employable at the best tech startups
Assist the Access Code Director to recruit and identify the highest potential applicants for the Access Code program
Assist the Access Code Director to develop entrepreneurial workshops and mentorship program
Advise Executive Director, academic institutions, foundations, and government leaders on the finding from C4Q Access Code and formulate tech education policy
Develop a deep understanding of Access Code student progress and ability, and provide supplemental instruction and assistance to ensure graduate success
- Lead C4Q volunteer instructors to provide technical workshops
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science and iOS development, preferably with previous teaching experience
Three to five years of engineering experience at a leading tech startup
No fail attitude -- whatever it takes to provide the appropriate instruction, mentorship, and support to ensure student success
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Painstakingly detail oriented and rigorous
Compassion and ability to work with a broad range of students
Excited about the opportunity to work with community college students
Ability to excel in a startup environment, working under tight deadlines and under pressure
Knowledge of current issues in inclusion and access, tech education, experience working with non-traditional audiences is a major plus
Knowledge and interest in workforce development and education policy a plus
