Access Code Program Manager
The C4Q Access Code tech education program aims to strengthen, diversify, and expand the NYC tech workforce by providing high-quality tech courses to those who traditionally lack access. As Queens becomes a center for New York City tech, we want to invest in building the skills of individuals from our community. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated person to help us grow Access Code and manage the next iteration of the program as we expand the scope and scale of operations.
Of the 1.2 million projected tech jobs in the United States by 2020, universities are estimated to fill only 29% of these jobs. The existing for-profit developer training programs are phenomenal resources, but they are more often than not prohibitively expensive and inaccessible to the demographic we serve. In order to tackle this huge demand for talent, we must increase pathways to the tech community outside of academia and for Americans of modest means and less educational attainment. 65% of adult New Yorkers do not have a college degree and earn less than $35,000 a year. Thus most of the market for human capital is currently not included in the tech sector. This person should have a no fail attitude and work together with the C4Q team to do whatever it takes to provide the appropriate instruction, mentorship, and support to ensure student success.
