Director of Finance & Operations

C4Q seeks a Director of Finance and Operations to define the process and implement the financial infrastructure and operational systems to ensure the continued and healthy growth of our tech non-profit. We seek an individual that will join the leadership team and be directly involved in strategic and financial planning, program evaluation, and professional development initiatives. We are at a critical stage of growth and are poised to triple in staff every year for the next few years. The Director will be responsible for leading and growing a diverse team of interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial individuals, as well as managing an active volunteer committee of over 50 members.

As the internal leader of the organization, the Director will drive the financial, accounting, legal, HR, and operational systems for C4Q, striving to implement best practices to maximize resources while utilizing innovative tools to maintain our forward-thinking culture. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations such as accounting and other financial procedures, the Director will be responsible for developing long-term strategies through the use of financial and operational data. C4Q seeks to constantly improve as we build our organization, and the Director of Finance and Operations will also be responsible for evaluating and advancing our organizational strategies. 

C4Q works with leading business and philanthropic organizations to build an innovative, inclusive, and diverse Queens tech community. 


  • Lead the internal operations of the organization and manage critical functions including finance, people, legal, and systems
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and potential projects
  • Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics
  • Oversee overall day-to-day management of the accounting procedures and work with staff and outside consultants to ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Work with C4Q team to develop and implement organizational strategy
  • Develop earned income model, operating model, and metrics to measure growth and success
  • Align resources with organizational strategy and maximize impact through developing efficient and innovative systems
  • Ensure our various programs are coordinated and synchronized
  • Utilize data and metrics and incorporate technology to improve both program and organizational efficacy
  • Develop and implement strong HR/people policies - including staff hiring, training, and on-boarding - that build and enrich company culture
  • Lead internal communications and systems
  • Support the Executive Director as well as the Board Finance and Governance committees
  • Maintain a high level of accountability across programs and goals



  • At least 5 years of management and administrative experience building and leading a team as well as overseeing business operations
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, comfort building financial models, and skill working with data sets
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and implement financial systems
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Track record of achieving organizational goals and strategy through building both effective and creative processes and systems
  • Ability to make sound decisions that further organizational mission under high-pressure and resource constrained conditions
  • Strong leader who is able to drive team members and build company infrastructure to support both personal and professional growth
  • Strong work ethic
