About C4Q Labs

Software is vital to a growing number of industries, including everything from Digital Manufacturing to Wearable Technology. As part of the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Futureworks NYC program, C4Q Labs is a pilot program designed to ensure inclusivity in these emergent sectors. By providing access to experts, education, and equipment, we are equipping our fellows and alumni with the skills and relationships they will need for the tech jobs of the future.

Salons

We host salons and panel discussions featuring entrepreneurs, engineers, and investors in NYC’s advanced manufacturing industry. Panelists learn from each others’ experiences, and attendees gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities in NYC’s hardware, digital fabrication, and Internet of Things. These events are open to the public, and provide tremendous networking opportunities to individuals from across the city’s tech sector.

tours

We organize site tours of advanced manufacturing facilities throughout NYC. These visits introduce attendees to the factories and makerspaces that are enabling and creating innovative products for companies across a range of industries. These tours are open to the public, but we reserve a portion of slots for C4Q fellows and alumni.

workshops

We lead workshops that focus on the technical intersection of hardware and software. Industry experts co-teach each workshop, which takes attendees through the development of a specific project. Topics include: Designing Products in Fusion 360, Python for IoT Development, and Electronics Prototyping with MicroPython.

Classes

We will teach an intensive 3D printing and product design curriculum. Over 10 weeks, fellows will learn to design 3D models using TinkerCAD, Fusion 360, and Meshmixer. By the end of the course, fellows will have their own Shapeways storefronts, as well as a portfolio of at least 4 products in 4 materials.

Access to Tools

We are building a small hackerspace at our main office. This space will include a variety of development boards and electronics components, as well as digital fabrication machines and materials.

Access to Space

We offer open hours for anyone that completes an equipment safety workshop. These free prototyping sessions allow members of the C4Q community to utilize our space to work on their products. This time allows makers throughout our network to build products and use their coding skills to manipulate physical devices.
