Decoding Tech: Launching Your Career Above & Beyond

  • C4Q HQ 31-00 47th Avenue, Suite 1105 Long Island City (map)

To register for this free event, RSVP here.

Tech is the fastest-growing industry in New York City with job opportunities for various career tracks. As a relatively new and unique industry, tech is coded in the language of iteration, culture fit, seed funding, and startup jargon and knowledge. Join us for an event that explores, beyond the code, what it means to work for a startup or tech company and how to launch your new career in tech.

We are kicking it off with a keynote talk by
Shaun Johnson (Cofounder & Program Director, Startup Institute) on the importance of culture and social skills in the tech industry.

Hear from a panel of industry professionals – with diverse expertise including marketing, programming, and design – offering insight on their day-to-day and advice on how to jumpstart your career. Hear from Stephanie Morillo (Content Writer, General Assembly), Francisco Hui (Product Designer, Pivotal Labs), Derek Kan (Director of Product Management, Annalect) and Sara Chipps (CEO, Jewelbots).

And then learn some quick and dirty tips to building your personal brand with a workshop hosted by Rebecca Garcia
(Cofounder, CoderDojo NYC + Developer Evangelist, Squarespace).

Co-sponsored by: Tech@NYUHack4BaruchQueens College Computer Graphics Association, and Queens College Tech Club.
